Code is downstream
of the conversation.

The conversations you have with your agents are the real work — and they're scattered across nine hidden folders. Braid gathers them, lets them branch like thought does, and lets other people read them. The code is just what fell out.

the argument

  1. 01 Software used to be made of code. Now it's made of conversations — the code is what falls out of them.
  2. 02 Git gave code a memory. Conversations still have none. They die in one person's terminal, in nine different folders.
  3. 03 Work is non-linear. Conversations are still a straight line. A thought should be able to fork — and come back knowing something.
  4. 04 The most human thing you write all day is what you say to your agent. Today, no other human ever reads it.

Braid is the loom.

a shared thread

Read someone's work like a letter.

No clone, no deploy, no walkthrough. A shared conversation opens like this — with the branches where the thinking forked, and a copy of the thread that's yours to continue.

all of it, finally

Every agent, one shelf

Every conversation you've ever had with an agent is already on your disk. Braid just knows where to look.

Fork a thought mid-sentence

Work is non-linear. Branch a conversation at any message and follow the other idea — the thread picks up exactly where the thought forked.

for a friend

Share like a letter

Send a thread to a friend the way you'd send a letter. They read it — and if it takes them somewhere, they continue their own copy. Yours stays yours.

other rooms

Your other computers, on the line

The desktop knows things the laptop doesn't. Put them on the line with each other, and carry a conversation between rooms.

travels well

The conversation travels

A thread folds up into a single file anyone can open. Wherever the work goes, the conversation that made it goes too.

A quiet ledger of what all this talking costs, stitched into a year of little squares.
